Hi,

Well, in a few hours it will be 1 year since we first fell in love with Sofia. 1 year!!!!!!! It's unbelievable that this much time has gone by without her here. As much as our family is excited and longing for her to be home it has been very stressful on all of us. It's hard to explain, but the waiting is something I never want to go through again. Of course I said this with all 3 of my labors and deliveries.......and then as I was leaving the hospital, I was already planning my next pregnancy!!!! Anyhow, here is another picture of our cutie.

Hi,

Finally some news!!!! I received an email from our attorney in Guatemala saying that he should have that rectified birth certificate sometime next week. After a 4 month standstill, we will be able to get resubmitted into PGN again! We are praying that this is true and we can start moving toward getting little kitty boo boo face HOME!!! Me, Evan and my mom are leaving in 1 week to go visit her. We are excited beyond excited. Do you believe she will be 15 months old in a few days?!?! How crazy is that? Can't wait to get my hands on her again.

Hi,

This has been a rough week for me. I hate to complain, because it is so selfish, but the courts in Guatemala have begun releasing cases again. It is the first time in 2 months. I know, you are thinking........this is a good thing, right. Yes, it is a great thing because babies are being approved to come home, but Sofia should have been home now. She should have been home months ago. Now I am watching families who started way after me, get their babies. Like I said, it is selfish, but it really sucks. And if you know me, you know that I am really holding back by just saying it 'sucks'. I have many other choice words that I prefer to use, but for the sake of my students reading these posts, I will refrain. Basically, we are still waiting for the birth mother's birth certificate to be fixed so we can get back into the courts. Last I inquired, I was told it could be up to 5 more months before the civil registry will have that document ready. So yes, I miss my baby that should already be home.

The agency sent me this pic of Sofia today. I doctored it all up and now I can't resist sharing. Could you just eat her face or what???

I'm Going Back to Guat!!!

I'm going back to see Sofia on July4th! This time I will be taking Evan to meet his little sister! He is very excited. My mom is also coming to snuggle Sofia up! So here is my countdown...32 days until we are together again. Mayra emailed me and told me that Sofia was sick with a fever and had to go to the doctor today. The idiot doctor gave her 3 immunizations. I am so upset. Any doctors out there (Stu) please tell me that this is ok and she will be alright. I thought you are not supposed to get shots when you are sick with a fever?!?! Just another thing that I have to worry about! On the bright side, thank God for Mayra and her son Luis Carlos, who just take turns holding Sofia who feels like crap. They love her so much and take the best care of her!! Keep our little baby in your prayers. Thanks a million!!!
