Now that Sofia is ours, we (or should I say my mom and I) have pretty much finished up Sofia's room. Wanna see? You know she has been our Sofia butterfly throughout this whole process so we felt butterflies was the way to go. Hope you like it. And, yes, I know that the canopy above the crib will probably be pulled down by Sofia in a matter of minutes, but I just had to have it.

It Is Setting In.....Sofia is OURS

It has been 5 days since we found out that we are OUT of PGN and it is finally setting in that she is ours. We are anxiously awaiting word from our agency that we have been submitted for Sofia's new BC with our last name. I want to make sure that this is being done ASAP because as soon as the attorney has it in his possession, it will be about 2-3 weeks until we can bring her home. Mayra sent us this pic of Sofia yesterday.

We are OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have been approved OUT of the court system and that means that Sofia is legally OURS!!!!! Our baby is coming home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going to list the next steps in the process before we can pick her up so you have an idea of what exactly it is we are waiting for.

1. The atty will apply for a birth certificate that will say Cikra. (2-6 weeks)
2. Once the BC is finished Sofia will go and get a passport. (1 day)
3. A 2nd DNA test is done to make sure Sofia is Sofia. This DNA test is done in Guatemala and sent to South Carolina for processing and then sent back to the US embassy in Guatemala. (1-2 weeks)
4. Once the US Embassy receives the DNA results they will issue the ever so exciting PINK slip which will state our Embassy appointment date. It is usually within 7-10 days so we will book airline tickets, pack and GO GET OUR BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could It Be True????

My friend called PGN again today and was told that our file is signed approved and that it should be at the window next week. The window is where the attorney goes to pick up the file. NOW, with that being said, PGN is known to give information that is not the most accurate. Many have been disappointed once the attorney goes to pick up the file, so although I am thrilled beyond thrilled, I am definitely guarded. We will place another call to PGN on Monday to check the status of the file and go from there. Please, please let it be an approved OUT. Sofia needs to come home. By the way, do you love my little cowgirl? Mayra's grandson, Christopher Hanz had a project for school and they all dressed up like cowboys. You know that is the cutest thing you ever saw!

2nd Reviewer

We had a very good friend who speaks Spanish, call PGN today and they said we are with the 2nd reviewer. This is good news. We could be OUT anyday now. Or, we could be OUT in weeks. Or, they could still kick us OUT for some frivilous item they decide they want us to obtain. Then we start again with the whole review thing. So, I choose to believe that the 2nd reviewer is going to send us for final signature and we will be OUT approved. This would mean that Sofia is legally ours and we will be able to pick her up 6-8 weeks later. Gotta keep the faith!!

Day 400?

Just had a thought that it might be nice if, on day 400 of waiting for Sofia, she miraculously got out of PGN. Day 400, by the way, would be tomorrow. This pic was taken on July 5th. She has the best sense of humor because she thought it was so funny that her brother had a pony on his head just like she did! Anyhow, keeping our fingers crossed.
